Concarneau in Southern Brittany is France’s third largest fishing port,  and  a popular resort. A walk around the bay and ramparts is the best way to see the town.

The medieval walled town, the Ville Close, is located a few metres offshore on an irregular rocky island in the bay, This island had been inhabited for over a millennia before being refortified in the 17th century, and was the site of an ancient abbey.

This ancient part of Concarneau

is one of the most photographed sights in Brittany,  and it can get very busy during the peak summer season.

Concarneau’s Fishing Heritage

Concarneau is France’s foremost port for tuna and most fresh fish.

The Festival of the Blue Nets (Festival des Filets Bleus), started in 1905 to raise funds for the fishers' families, is held every August on the last but one Sunday. It is  one of the liveliest festivals in Brittany with traditional music.

Concarneau has a Fishery Museum, The Musée de la Pèche,  which is located in the Ville-Close and provides an insight into the traditional life of Concarneau, and many other of Brittany’s ports, and the history of catching whales and tuna with extra large dragnets.

Admission is €6. Opening times are daily: mid-June to mid-Sept 9.30am to 8.00pm; mid-Sept to mid-June 9.30am–12.30pm & 2.00–6.00pm.

Concarneau claim to be a town of flowers is well justified. The flowers are most evident within the walls, with climbing roses and clematis festooning the various shops, restaurants and crêperies.

You can take a boat trip out to the Iles des Glénan where there is a famous sailing school and seabird sanctuaries.

Chlorella has Anti-aging Properties

As the body ages, its abilities to utilize nutrients declines as does the production of RNA/DNA.

With 3% RNA and 0.3% DNA in Chlorella, it is one of the highest known food sources of nucleic acids.

Guess I need to take even more!
