Doelan, You Must Visit Doelan!

Doelan is a picturesque secluded fishing harbour near Clohars Carnoet and Le Pouldu and is accessible from both. It has been extensively painted and photographed for over a hundred years, but very little has been written about it.

Doelan Port is not really on the tourist map. Tourism seems to be a small bonus on top of a lively fishing trade.

If you’re lucky you might be there when a boat comes in and the fish sold from the quayside. I’ve never seen fish sold on the Pouldu side, and you have to be quick! Usually there’s only two or three boxes of fish off these small boats, and I’m sure the locals have an early warning system!

There’s a lot more car parking space on the other side of the river.

The cliff path runs on both sides of the river mouth.

Doelan Food and Drink

There are two or three places to eat and drink in Doelan, and they looked very popular with the locals. You can sit and eat or drink out on the harbour wall and watch the boats.

Touring the Doelan Area

If you are cruising by car or cycling, the country roads from Doelan to Moelan-sur-Mer are very pleasant with little traffic.
